Virtual Tour
Welcome to the Rehabilitation lab at WPI! We are located in Higgins Laboratories Rooms 124-129. Our facility consists of three connected laboratories, all used by mechanical and biomedical faculty and students.
Rehab Lab
This is a picture of HL Room 129. This is the heart of rehabilitation engineering in the lab. As you can see, we work with mobility devices. There are also projects scattered throughout the lab that are not quite visible. For details on our projects, visit the projects (-link to projects page-) page. The lab is used for demonstrations and project work. This is also where most of the project meetings occur. If you would like an on-site tour, we will be happy to arrange one with you.
Fume Hood
This is HL Room 124, the Biomaterials section of the lab. The picture shows some of the lab’s working space along with the fume hood and chemical storage cabinets. We have wet chemical capabilities in this section of the lab.
MTS
This is a photo of our MTS (Materials Testing System) machine which is located in HL Room 124, the Biomaterials section of the lab. This machine is used to test mechanical properties such as strength and elasticity of materials such as bone or man-made polymers.
Hallway
A long hallway connects the three laboratories. This hallway is used for gait analysis studies as well as studies of wheelchair performance. Instrumentations placed against the brick wall at the end of the walkway have been used to study frontal impacts of powered wheelchairs.
