Dr. Yinggang Tian from Saint Gobain Research Center gave a seminar to MFE graduate students, faculty members, and local manufacturing professionals on Thursday, January 18, 2007. He presented his dissertation work at Purdue University, on Laser-Assisted Machining of Ceramics with Complex Features.

Professor Mustapha Fofana gave an MFE seminar on January 25, Thursday, 2007, on Stability Bifurcations - a Salient Exposition.

Dong Lu gave an MFE seminar on February 1, Thursday, 2007. The topic is Stress and Temperature Analysis in Micro-cutting of Al7075-T6 and Ti-6al-4V . Ms. Lu is a visiting scholar in our CAM-Lab., from Shandong University, China, where she is a Ph. D candidate in Manufacturing Engineering.

tOn Thursday, February 22, we had two MFE seminars. Professor Yuebin Guo from University of Alabama gave an MFE seminar on Prediction and Synthesis of Surface Integrity by Hard Machining and the Effect on Fatigue Life. Mr. Zhongqiu Wang gave a seminar on Prediction of Residual Stress in Hard Turning of AISI 52100 using 2D FEM. Mr. Wang is a Ph. D candidate at Shandong University, China, and currently working at the Ohio State University as a visiting scholar. Professor Guo and Mr. Wang also had meetings with our CAM Lab. members for more in-depth technical discussions respectively.

Professor Samuel Huang from University of Cincinnati gave an MFE seminar on March 7, 2007. His presentation topic was on Process Modeling with Incomplete Data. Professor Huang was our research collaborator of an NSF sponsored project and a committee member of David’s Ph. D dissertation.

Doctor Candidate, Marnie Ham from Queen's University, Ontario, Canada visited WPI on Thursday, April 12, 2007, and gave a Manufacturing Engineering Seminar on Sigle Point Incremental Forming of Sheet Metal: An Innovative Sheet Metal Forming Processes.

Professor Xiaoping Li from National University of Singapore visited our CAM-Lab at WPI and gave a seminar to our graduate students and faculty members at Manufacturing Engineering Program. His presentation was on the Research and Development of Human Brain Activity Monitoring Systems.

Professor Amy Zeng from Management Department at WPI gave a seminar Manufacturing Engineering Graduate Students and Professors, as well as local company colleagues, on A Glimpse of the Status-quo of Supply Chain and Logistics Management.

Professor Doming Guo from Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, China, gave a seminar on his research work with the title of "Ultra-Precision Machining Technology in IC Manufacturing".
